Agelu Mountain, situated in Iseyin, Oyo State, Nigeria, is a renowned place of prayer and spiritual significance. Established in 1933 by Prophet Alfred Ajayi Akintobi, also known as Agbojesu, this sacred site has become a hub for miracles, prayers, and divine encounters.
"Empowering spiritual growth, fostering divine encounters, and spreading the message of hope and redemption through faith, prayer, and community."
Prophet Alfred Ajayi Akintobi was a staff member of the Nigerian Railways Corporation who received divine inspiration to found the Agelu church and mountain. Guided by God, Akintobi established the church on Agelu Mountain, where he was promised spiritual glory and success in his mission. Akintobi's relationship with Moses Orimolade Tunolase, the founder of the Cherubim and Seraphim movement, played a significant role in shaping his spiritual journey.
One of the most remarkable events is the disappearance of Akintobi's body from his coffin during his funeral. This is seen as a fulfillment of prophecy, where he foretold he would not be buried, much like Elijah in the Bible.
The church believes God has performed numerous miracles on the mountain, including healing the sick and raising the dead. Worshippers bring prayer items such as water, honey, oil, and candles for divine blessings.
The burial site of Akintobi, known as Ile Anu or "House of Mercy," is a sacred spot on the mountain where worshippers kneel to seek God's mercy and forgiveness, surrounded by various prayer objects.
Agelu Mountain is a popular destination for religious pilgrims, especially during the annual July 24-26 program. Devotees gather for prayers, seeking divine intervention, miracles, and healings. The mountain has become a site of spiritual rejuvenation, attracting visitors from various countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Alongside the religious activities, the area features a bustling market with various goods being sold, creating a unique blend of spirituality and commerce.
Agelu Mountain is closely tied to the Cherubim and Seraphim movement, founded by Moses Orimolade Tunolase in 1925. The church emphasizes direct personal experience of God through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, accompanied by signs and wonders. The Cherubim and Seraphim movement has a rich history, dating back to 1925 when Moses Orimolade received considerable media attention for allegedly healing a girl from a long-term trance. Since then, the church has spread globally.
